"This piece features The Rag Cat, a figure who has been appearing in my work since around 2017.
He is a large creature, a little taller than you are - inspired by an early 1900s folk art rag doll I stumbled across. Its face was crudely embroidered, and though ears and tail had long since succumbed to age.
I think of The Rag Cat as a burlap bag full of mystery. Smiling, silent, and watchful.
When he finally emerges from his cloth cocoon, will you still recognize him as friend?"

Technical:
This 6x8x3/4 cradled birchwood panel was sized on all sides with an acrylic polymer base (GAC-100). Gamblin Oil Ground was then thinly applied and allowed to dry over the course of several layers.
