Watercolor #7: "Purple Pierrot Child" Handmade A5 Watercolor Paper with Deckled Edges
Watercolor on thick handmade Indian watercolor paper with deckled edges.
A5 (5.8 x 8.3 inches)
This piece is part of a series of watercolors that I started while in the Netherlands in November 2021, using Indian paper bought in Utrecht and German watercolors bought in Amsterdam.
For the past few years I have worked with my aging set of Holbein gouache tubes, and after buying a Schmincke watercolor set in Amsterdam, was thrilled to find watercolor was so much more vibrant and satisfying to layer than watered-down gouache.
With this combination of Khadi paper and Schmincke watercolor, I have been experimenting for the past two months and these paintings from this sale represent the first leg of the journey back into wet media.
Paintings ship wrapped in glassine, sandwiched between cardboard, and carefully sealed in a sturdy brown mailer.
It's delightfully painted, and now sitting by my desk in it's frame, it shines on my daily tasks, side-eyeing when I'm not doing as good as I want. I deserve it.
Thank you for giving this piece a home, Vincent! I hope he also looks on you kindly when you are feeling good about things.
