About the painting:
In the 1980s, the Sekiguchi toy company of Japan produced a series of clown music boxes. These music boxes featured a variety of figures (boy, girl, rabbit, etc) depicted with different instruments and flowers, depending on the pose and color scheme.
This painting is based on a sketch of a lily-themed Sekiguchi Clown music box in my collection.
