Watercolor #9: "Sekiguchi Musicbox Study #3, Lily" [Watercolor and Graphite on Hot Press Watercolor Paper, 5 x 7 inches]

This is a life study of a porcelain music box, manufactured by the Sekiguchi toy company of Japan in the 1980s. The series features several different characters in similar clown clothes, which take multiple stylistic cues from the both the classic Pierrot costume as well as jesters, mimes, and white-face clowns.

Paintings ship wrapped in glassine, sandwiched between cardboard, and carefully sealed in a sturdy brown mailer.
